중고 재봉틀 기계에서 출발한 이래로, FMH는 분명한 슬로건으로 고객에게 나아가고 있습니다.
‘작은 소품이 공간에 주는 힘을 믿는다.’
같은 소파라도 어떤 쿠션이 놓이는지에 따라 느낌이 다르듯, 좋은 소재로 만들어진 제품은 공간에 기대 이상의 큰 활력을 줍니다. 작은 제품의 힘이 더해지려면, 만들어지는 과정에도 힘과 정성이 실려야 합니다. 이러한 이유로 FMH는 지역 사회에 있는 공방에 가장 먼저 문을 두드렸고, 현재까지도 소규모의 공방들과 협력하고 있습니다. 모두가 함께하는 협력, 손 작업에 대한 존경, 그리고 좋은 소재를 선택하는 과정을 준수합니다. 이런 과정들이 모여 소비자에게도 온전히 전해진다고 여기는 것이 FMH의 가치입니다.
Since starting out with secondhand sewing machines, FMH has moved forward with a clear slogan.
“We believe in the power that small objects bring to a space.”
Just as the same sofa can feel completely different depending on the cushions placed on it, products made with good materials can bring more life to a space than expected. For small products to have that kind of impact, care and effort must go into the making process as well. For this reason, FMH first reached out to local workshops and continues to collaborate with small-scale studios to this day. We value working together, respecting handcraft, and carefully selecting quality materials. We believe that these processes come together and are fully delivered to the customer — and that is the core value of FMH.
Our designs
FMH의 디자인은 세 가지 가치를 기반으로 탄생합니다.
기본 형태를 고수한다(basic) - 어렵고 튀는 디자인은 한눈에 마음을 사로잡을 수 있지만, 제한이 많고 여러 공간에 사용되기 어렵습니다. 모든 사람들이 쉽게 접근할 수 있고, 어느 공간에든 어울릴 수 있어야 합니다.
약간의 변주를 더한다(twist) - 앞서 말한 베이직한 틀에 자수 혹은 패치와 같은 요소로 약간의 변화를 주어 FMH만의 터치를 더합니다.
좋은 소재를 사용한다(good quality) - 국내산 면 100%와 린넨 등 자연 기반의 원단을 가장 최우선으로 사용하며, 다음으로 전통적인 방식을 결합하여 원단을 생산하는 일본의 우에야마사 원단, 그리고, 유럽산 아마로 제작되는 린넨 등 내구성이 좋고 튼튼한 원단을 우선적으로 선별합니다.
FMH designs are built on three core values.
Basic – We stay true to simple forms. Bold and unusual designs may catch the eye at first, but they can be limiting and harder to use in different spaces. Our products should feel easy to approach and fit naturally into any setting.
Twist – Within that basic framework, we add a subtle variation. Details such as embroidery or patches bring a small change that gives each piece a distinct FMH touch.
Good Quality – We prioritize natural materials, starting with 100% Korean cotton and linen. We also select durable fabrics such as textiles from Ueyama, produced using traditional methods, as well as strong European flax linen. We carefully choose materials that are long-lasting and well made.
Rustic simplicity and nature
FMH의 디자인은 자연에서 출발합니다. 공원을 걷다가 나오는 햇살, 그 햇살에 따라 색이 달라지는 흙과 나뭇잎, 그리고 벽돌과 칠이 벗겨진 낡은 벤치. 자연스럽게 만들어지고 바래지는 환경은 우리 모두에게 편안함과 위로를 줍니다. 가공되지 않은 러프한 색상의 다양한 모습을 디자인으로 구현하는 것이 FMH의 목표입니다.

The sunlight that filters through the trees during a walk in the park, the way the soil and leaves change color in that light, and the worn benches with faded paint and exposed brick, these naturally formed and weathered scenes bring comfort and quiet reassurance to all of us.
FMH aims to express these unrefined, earthy tones and their subtle variations through design.
Respect for handcraft
FMH의 제작 과정에는 전통적인 방식을 가미합니다. 손으로 커팅하여 러프하게 박음질 하는 과정에서는 제작자의 손맛이 더해집니다. 일부 제품은 손자수를 의도적으로 추가합니다. 이렇듯 작은 부분에라도 수작업을 더하는 이유는 지나치게 정형화된 모양을 피하고 제작자의 온기를 더하기 위함입니다. 그 온기와 정성은 고스란히 소비자의 공간에 전달됩니다.

From past to future
FMH는 어린시절의 막연한 그리움과 추억, 그리고 서툰 손끝이 닿는 모든 것들에서 영감을 받습니다. 아이들이 크레파스로 삐뚤빼둘하게 그린 별과 달은 이제 커버린 우리들이 어렸을 적 한번 즈음 그려봤던 모습과 매우 닮아있습니다. 우리의 현재가 아이들이 그리워 할 아름다운 과거로 보존될 수 있도록 노력하고 있습니다. 이를테면 정형화되지 않은 별과 달을 제품의 디테일에 녹이고, 버려질 뻔한 원단들을 모아 새로운 제품을 탄생시킵니다. 이런 작은 노력들이 모여 환경에 기여하는 것이 FMH의 가치이자 태도입니다.
FMH draws inspiration from a quiet sense of nostalgia from childhood, from memories, longing, and the imperfect touch of small hands. The uneven stars and moons drawn by children with crayons closely resemble the ones we once drew when we were young. We hope to preserve our present in a way that may one day become a beautiful memory for them. We reflect these unstructured stars and moons in the details of our products, and we gather fabrics that might otherwise be discarded to create something new. These small efforts, taken together, are how FMH contributes to the environment, and they represent our values and attitude.
